During a fireside chat, Jay Brown, Co-Founder, former CEO and current Vice Chairman of Roc Nation discussed his introduction and origins in the industry. This installment of the Roc Nation School Speaker Series was more intimate than others preceding it, being moderated by Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production school program Director, Young Guru. The cherished executive, who is celebrated across the music, sports, entertainment, beauty and fashion industries dropped gems to students on his work alongside top talent — contributing to the evolution of the company from a full-service boutique agency, to a cultural, global supreme-house, helping develop icons like Rihanna & billion dollar brands like FENTY.
Brown talked to Khumas, Dean’s List scholar & Ambassador to the school currently housed inside the Long Island University Brooklyn campus, while answering a handful of questions during the interview, Q&A segment of his guest appearance.
Interview question: Considering your success with Roc Nation as an entrepreneur, why do you think students pursuing post-secondary education at the Roc Nation School is important, and where do you see the school in the next 5—10 years?
Interview wrapped: Brown segued to the latter before charismatically speaking to how success isn’t so much the destination, that it’s more about the journey & process —affirming students at the school of their success. During the executive-to-student and emerging entrepreneur conversation, Brown told Khumas that he see’s the school “growing,” doubling in size, with vision for a “bigger campus” in the future.
